The ‘Clapperboard Presents…’ series of popular movie evenings continues on Monday 17 October 2011 at FACT with a screening of Shane Meadows' award winning This Is England. One of the stars of the film Joanne Hartley will be on hand to answer questions afterwards
The series celebrates award-winning North West talent and one of the film's stars Jo Hartley, will participate in a Question and Answers session with the audience after the film, Chaired by Roger Shannon Professor of Film in the Department of Media at Edge Hill University.
THIS IS ENGLAND is a 2006 British drama film written and directed by Shane Meadows, produced by Mark Herbert and stars Joanne Hartley as Cynthia, Thomas Turgoose as Shaun, Stephen Graham as Combo, Andrew Ellis as Gadget, Joe Gilgun as Woody, Vicky McClure as Lol and Andrew Shim as Milky.
Mods, New Romantics, and Skinheads. This is England is a look back at the early eighties of British working-class life through the eyes of young Shaun and his skin head gang, and dealing with the bitterness of outside influences such as racism and xenophobia, of mass unemployment and the fall out of the Falkland's War; Thatcher's Britain: Did we ever have it so good?
