In Spring 2011, national magazine Marie Claire invited women from around the UK to apply for their Inspire & Mentor scheme aimed at helping women progress in their chosen careers. Director of the British Film Institute Amanda Nevil is to act as mentor to one woman within the field of arts and culture – the list of all applicants from around the UK has been whittled down to two, one of whom is local writer Cath Bore.
Cath will be travelling down to the Marie Claire offices in mid-November to be interviewed by Amanda and meet the magazine’s editorial team.
‘I’m really pleased to be in the top two,’ said Cath. ‘It will be a privilege to meet Amanda, a woman who has risen to the top of her profession. Script writing is one of my passions and I love seeing the responses to my work from audiences whether at screenings or in a theatre.’
A graduate from Liverpool John Moores University’s MA in Writing programme, Cath’s debut short film “Past Glories” was commissioned by Liverpool production company First Take in 2010. At the moment she is working on a full length feature film “Big Society – The Musical” with a team of local writers, produced by First Take; it will be screened in Spring 2012.
Cath is a regular contributor on a number of local radio programmes, has appeared on daytime TV and has been placed in novel and short story writing competitions around the UK.
Cath’s website is www.cathbore.com; she also blogs at http://cathbore.wordpress.com
