REVIEW: Haunted Merseyside, Stanley Dock 13/05/11

Haunted Merseyside are a ghost tour with a difference. They are a non profit organisation donating any monies from their events to help charitable causes in the region. Our reporter Saira Kewley went along to the latest spooky tale...

Friday the 13th is supposed to be one of the most haunted and paranormal days in our calendar.  So, I thought it would be the perfect time to go on my very first ghost hunt! Haunted Merseyside, who set up the event and many others, are a brilliant and non profitable organisation who donates their proceeds to various funds including, The British Heart Foundation, The James Bulger Trust and the particular charity we were sponsoring that night, Ambers Fund.

Ambers story is so special because she is a courageous two year old girl, who despite dealing with the effects of Meningitis, never lets its get her down and keeps smiling every day. Amber's Fund has been set up to help raise the money needed for the much needed limbs that will bring her independence in the future when her body stops growing. The limbs are very expensive, so until the time comes to purchase them, all money raised will be given to Amber’s mother who puts it into an account to save until she reaches her full height.

The event was held at Heritage Market down on Stanley Dock. The old, disused Tobacco Warehouse looked menacing in the dark with all its broken windows and the large wall surrounding, it looked like a fortress.

I did not really think anything was going to happen when I arrived, but the fact that it was Friday 13th I think in the back of my head I was expecting something.

During our sit in, we participated in séances, used K2 meters, which are able to tell you when a spirit is near to you by going from green, though orange to red. We also used a ghost box; this was my favourite part as we were able, using white noise to talk to spirits which were in the rooms with us. It was a very interesting night, eye opening and all in aid of a wonderful cause.

To participate in another hunt or another of Haunted Merseyside’s events take a look at their website, I can be positive that you will not be disappointed.
