Local youngsters get the chance to perform Annie on Empire stage

Young people from across the region are being offered the chance to live a 'hard knock life' this Summer as part of Liverpool Empire Stage Experience, as the heart warming rags to riches tale Annie has been chosen for the annual project's 2012 show.

COMING UP: The Ciggie Run @ St Helens Theatre Royal 8-12 Feb 2012

Comic legend Mickey Finn, acclaimed actor Ozzie Yue, local favourite Kev Seed and Liverpool actress Charlie Griffiths will join Brookside favourite Louis Emerick when the hilarious Scouse hit comedy The Ciggie Run, returns to St Helens Theatre Royal from Wed 8- Sun 12 February.

Coming Up: A Streetcar Named Desire @ Liverpool Playhouse Feb-Mar 2012

Tennessee Williams's tender yet powerful Pulitzer Prize-winning 1947 play has long been considered a landmark of 20th century theatre. Artistic Director Gemma Bodinetz directs Amanda Drew as Blanche Dubois, Sam Troughton as Stanley Kowalski and Leanne Best as Stella Kowalski. A Streetcar Named Desire is at the Liverpool Playhouse from Friday 17th February to Saturday 10th March 2012.

A Nightmare on Lime Street - Royal Court announce new Christmas show

There are only 349 shopping days until Christmas so the Royal Court have announced details of this years Christmas show. After delving into musicals and Westerns, this year Fred Lawless will be making fun of classic horror films. A mix of jokes, songs and general messing around on stage, the show will be more horrifying than a five to two pull in the Big House and funnier than watching Hellraiser take off a beanie hat.
