A Nightmare on Lime Street - Royal Court announce new Christmas show

There are only 349 shopping days until Christmas so the Royal Court have announced details of this years Christmas show. After delving into musicals and Westerns, this year Fred Lawless will be making fun of classic horror films. A mix of jokes, songs and general messing around on stage, the show will be more horrifying than a five to two pull in the Big House and funnier than watching Hellraiser take off a beanie hat.

It's midnight on Lime St, it's dark and it's foggy. Suddenly you hear the sound of chains being slowly dragged along the floor, and from out of the fog emerges a dark sinister figure. As he shuffles past The Big House people are running in panic. Is it Dr. Frankenstein's Monster? Is it Count Dracula? Is it The Werewolf? Or is it Jack the Ripper out for a quick slash?

Well to be honest it could be any one of them, or even all of them because this is no ordinary horror story, this is the Royal Court's 2012 Christmas show, and if you've seen the last three year's shows you'll know that ANYTHING can happen!

The producers of the last three smash hit Christmas shows at the Royal Court (Merry Ding Dong, Scouse Pacific and Little Scouse On The Prairie) are back and this time they're going to give you the wackiest, funniest, scariest Christmas show you've ever seen!

Kevin Fearon, Chief Executive of Royal Court Liverpool: "The Royal Court Christmas show is becoming a bit of an institution and after the success of the last two years we wanted to get the 2012 show ready as soon as we could. I had a chat with Fred and we thought that comedy horror would work well and now I can't wait to see a script!"

Fred Lawless's last three Christmas shows were a massive hit with both critics and audiences alike, and December tickets sold out almost as soon as they became available, so the theatre is taking the unprecedented step of putting this show on sale a full 12 months in advance. Fred says "I'm really honoured and excited to have been asked by the Royal Court to write their 2012 Christmas show. I've really enjoyed writing their last three Christmas shows, and this year's comedy horror show will I'm sure be great fun to write, great fun for the actors to perform, and most importantly great fun for our audiences to see!"

A Nightmare On Lime Street runs from 23 November 2012 to 12 January 2013 and tickets are available from £13

Tickets and information for all productions are available from www.royalcourtliverpool.com or on 0870 787 1866
