The producers of Hormonal Housewives have announced that unfortunately due to ill health Beverley Callard has pulled out of the spring tour of Hormonal Housewives, which visits the Liverpool Empire on 5 March. Margi Clarke is now confirmed to play the lead role in this sparkling comedy paying tribute to all ladies over a 'certain age'.
A statement from Jamie Wilson of the show's production team read: "Myself and the producers of Hormonal Housewives are devastated that Beverley is unable to undertake the tour of Hormonal Housewives as she was perfect for the role and we do wish her a very speedy recovery. We are absolutely thrilled that her fellow Coronation Street star Margi Clarke has agreed to replace her throughout the spring tour."
In the Eighties, Liverpool-born Margi Clarke looked set to follow a career in music. The lead singer of various punk bands, she once supported Adam And The Ants. After starting out as a presenter for Granada, she moved into acting with a role in Channel 4 soap Brookside, before finding recognition in 1985 with a role in cult British film Letter To Brezhnev, widely regarded as one of the most important British films of all time, which went on to become a huge international hit. She has appeared in several films, including The Boys From County Clare and 24 Hour Party People.
Her small-screen acting credits include playing Tyrone Dobbs' mum in Coronation Street, Queenie in Making Out as well as parts in Casualty, Family Affairs and Benidorm. She's also continued to present programmes including the late night ITV show The Good Sex Guide which gained unheard-of audience figures of 13 million for a show that aired at 10.35pm and won the RTS Awards for 'Best Female Presenter'. Margi also appeared in the 2011 series of Celebrity Master Chef.
