In just one weeks time Regal Entertainments will proudly present a brand new stage version of the hilarious 1987 cult movie Rita, Sue and Bob Too! Starring the Shameless Tina Malone, the riotous comedy is back with a bang from Weds 12th - Sun 16th October at the St Helens Theatre Royal.
Directed by Sylvie Gatrill (The Salon and The Ciggie Run), the raucous play centres around a love triangle involving friends Rita and Sue and the lucky (or some would say, foolish) Bob. Furious showdowns ensue between Bob, his unfortunate wife, Michelle, and the hapless teenage Rita and Sue – and families! Talk about keep it in the family, the play also stars Tina’s real-life daughter Dannielle Malone (Hollyoaks) as Rita and her real-life husband Paul Malone playing the role of Sam. To complete the original line-up is the hilarious comedian Mickey Finn as Dad.
True to life, the play’s cast have experienced ructions of their own in what some may say is method acting at its best. Not wanting to be outdone by their on-stage characters, the cast has been re-jigged and now features Danny O’Brien (Night Collar, The Salon) in the role of Bob, Angela Simms (Macbeth, Walking Through Windows) will now take the role of Sue and Keddy Sutton (Slappers and Slapheads) will step into the shoes of Mum.
The original Film Four low budget movie starred George Costigan, Lesley Sharpe, Siobhan Finneran and Michelle Holmes and became an instant success, the band ‘Black Lace’ also appeared in the film performing their song ‘Having a Gangbang’ at a nightclub which became the soundtrack to the movie.
With a side-splittingly funny script, a great cast and bursting with all the best 80’s music, this is one hilarious night out you can’t afford to miss!
