Following a tumultuous few weeks with the closure of its spiritual home at The Masque, Liverpool clubbing institution Circus were pleased to announce that the stunning Camp and Furnace warehouse space in the Jamaica Street will play host to one of this year's most anticipated events. Ringmaster Yousef will be joined by Loco Dice, Art Department and more and we've got a pair of tickets to give away to one lucky reader...
Circus's last party of 2011 is in keeping with the sublime year the club has enjoyed overall. From debuting Laurent Garnier's LBS live show, to Luciano v Carl Craig, to the return of Carl Cox, to the 9th birthday, to a string of debuts in keeping with the club's new guest policy including Visionquest, Dennis Ferrer and Maya Jane Coles... it's been a relentless aural assault of peerless quality from Yousef and the team at Circus.
Joining the party this time will be Loco Dice and his Desolat imprint. Ask any journalist, worker or DJ about who has bossed Ibiza over the past five years and you get one answer each and every time; Loco Dice. The German techno typhoon first came to prominence playing ridiculously long sets at Circo Loco as the club broke out from the tribal house sound of its UK stalwarts in the early part of the twenty first century, to dominate the new modern European techno sound. Loco Dice was at the forefront of this movement.
Yousef closes off 2011 in his home-town in equally breathtaking style. He's spent most of the year hard at work pulling together his sophomore album project, a change in direction from straight up club music that is still waiting to unleash its new concept upon the clubbing fraternity. He's broken fresh ground in South America and also just returned from a 5 week Australasia tour taking in 14 cities and 7 countries. Much like any other year, it's seen him pushing forward the epoch of electronica, with recent signings to seminal labels Cecille and Intec showcasing his continued diverse output yet always with one eye on the dance floor.
Support for these two titans comes in the shape of Visionquest darlings Art Department. 2010 was all about that record, 'Without You', a strung out paean to love that dripped with sex and seductively grooved rather than pummelled into your sub conscious. It proved to be a watermark moment for dance music, pre-dating the move towards warmer and more love drenched vocals and moods, and Art Department have continued to ride the crest of the wave they helped create.
The last Circus of the year is looking rather special, for your chance to win a pair of tickets just answer the question below
